Artificial Intelligence

Course Description

VU University Amsterdam (the Netherlands) is playing a leading role in three research areas:

1. We investigate ways of making the web smarter.

2. We do research on how computers may be able to learn for themselves.

3. We investigate ways in which computer programs may work together.

An important part of our research has been spent on the development of DESIRE: the compositional development method used for both the design of knowledge-based systems and multi-agent systems. Their book on design of multi-agent systems is used in theoretical and practical courses included in curriculum of a number of universities.
