Course Description

European Law

Our LLM programme in European Law, taught entirely in English, will immerse you in this challenging and dynamic field. It provides a thorough grounding in European law.

It provides a thorough grounding in European law, covering areas such as internal market law, competition law, social law, judicial protection, human rights law, criminal law, and public law. Our unique programme will help you build both substantive and institutional knowledge of European law while giving you an opportunity to analyse European law in relation to the legal systems of the Member States. The flexibility of this programme means that you will be able to focus on areas of personal interest. For example, you may choose to take a specialisation or courses from our other master's programmes to create a custom minor.

This programme is taught by a team of renowned scholars with extensive professional experience in the field of European law. It is also highly international and welcomes students from all over the world each year.

(Scholarship)

Utrecht Excellence Scholarships - 20+ Awards

SELECTION CRITERIAEligible candidates are selected for a scholarship on the basis of the following criteria:- Academic excellence and promise in the proposed field of study;
- The academic quality and results of preceding qualifications, as evidenced by proof of belonging to the top 10% of the class, grades, test scores, a writing sample, letters of recommendation;
- The quality and relevance of the motivation letter for the Master’s programme (academic content, intercultural and communication skills, personal motivation);
- The quality of the application for the Master’s programme itself (completeness, accuracy, consistency).

Value of Scholarship(s)

Tuition fee or Tuition fee plus living expenses (€11,000)

Eligibility

-Belong to the top 10% of your graduating class
- Hold a non-EU/EEA passport and not be eligible for support under the Dutch system of study grants and loans
- Have completed your secondary school and/or Bachelor degree outside the Netherlands
- Have applied for one of the participating international master’s programme with a start date of September.

Entry Requirements

You hold a Bachelor in Law or students with a Liberal Arts Bachelor’s degree with a good basic knowledge of law (45 ECTS on law courses, including basic courses on public international law and/or European Union law).
