Legal Practice Course (LPC)

Course Description

The Legal Practice course (LPC) aims to prepare you for practice as a trainee solicitor and to provide you with a solid foundation for subsequent practice as a solicitor.

This course, which can be studied full-time or part-time provides graduates who have completed the academic stage of legal training or who are Members or Fellows of the Institute of Legal Executives, with the professional stage of training as solicitors.

The course emphasises the skills which are required in practice and must be successfully completed prior to the commencement of a training contract.

Entry Requirements

Students must hold a law degree approved by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, or have passed either the Common Professional Examination / Graduate Diploma in Law or have otherwise satisfied the academic stage of training as required by the Solicitors Regulation Authority Students must also enrol as a student member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority before beginning the LPC. Students should apply for membership no later than the 1st August before the commencement of the LPC, or 1st March if any suitability of character issues require consideration.
