MSc Finance and Accounting

Course Description

Businesses and government organisations implement strategies for economic growth by relying on sound financial knowledge.

This MSc Finance and Accounting, taught by highly research-active staff, is aimed at providing you with an in-depth grounding for your professional or academic career in finance, business and accounting.

The course develops your strategic understanding and critical thinking of the main finance principles and theories that support and inform corporate financial decisions upon which modern business decision-making is based.

In addition, it provides you with an opportunity to develop practical skills and a theoretical understanding of finance for international business.

You will explore the importance of accounting information in the management of corporations and the variety of approaches small firms use to secure finance and survive and succeed in the hyper-competitive market.

In this modern globalised business environment you will explore key factors that affect international business management and evaluate the impact of organisational theories and corporate governance on corporations in an international context.

As well as the opportunity of external visits, e.g. the London Stock Exchange, students will have the chance to apply the research skills developed throughout the programme to an independent piece of research in an accounting or finance related topic.

Typical modules include:

International Finance
International Business Environment
Financial Management
