PGCE Secondary Education Psychology

Course Description

The PGCE Psychology route is taught full-time and commences in September. It focuses on the 14-19 age group, notably “A” level and GCSE, but experience of teaching Key Stage 3 may also be provided. Trainees will have to teach a “second” subject – depending on experience and qualifications.

Entry Requirements

You will need at least a 2.2 Hons in a British Psychology Society accredited Psychology degree. Where the qualification is of a “joint” nature, candidates should have 60% in psychology though 50% is acceptable where it is matched with a secondary school curriculum subject. Experience of working with young people will be advantageous. You should have experience of teaching and learning in secondary school or sixth form contexts either through paid employment in school/college or through voluntary work/ observation OR be in the process of arranging to gain this. GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and mathematics
