PGCE Secondary Education Computer Science

Course Description

Computer Science is an exciting new secondary school curriculum subject.

It covers topics such as algorithms, programming, data, computers and social informatics, and communications and the internet.

As a trainee you will learn how to teach Computer Science to pupils of all ages. You will learn how to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding through project work and how to teach programming.

You will also experience teaching Computer Science theory to all secondary age groups (11-16).

Entry Requirements

You will have to possess a real interest and aptitude for Computer Science and an ability to think creatively in presenting the subject to others. This new course is Computer Science, not IT, and candidates need to understand that they will be expected to teach Computer Science topics such as programming, computer architecture, algorithms, data transmission and representation, number conversion and abstraction. Above all, you will need a real commitment to the education of young people.
