Master of Forensic Science (Research)


Course Description

The Master of Forensic Science by research is a supervised degree that includes a thesis.

A master's thesis must be a substantial work, generally based on independent research, that shows:

1) sound knowledge of the research subject
2) evidence of independent thought
3) ability to use clear and concise language

The Centre for Forensic Science has research expertise in the fields of DNA and Microbiology, Forensic and Analytical Chemistry, Anthropology, Entomology and Jury Research. Students are able to conduct their research within these fields or another relevant field of their choice.

Entry Requirements

The following applicants will normally be permitted to enrol in the course:1) those who have completed the Graduate Diploma in Forensic Science (UWA) with a minimum average grade of 70% within the last four years.2) holders of a Bachelor degree with at least upper second class honours.3) graduates who can satisfy the Board of the Graduate Research School that they have undertaken adequate research preparation since graduation 4) recipients of a scholarship for Master's by research (by thesis) study awarded by the UWA Scholarships Committee.(Providing they reach the required English language competency.)
