Diabetes in Pregnancy (Postgraduate Award)


Course Description

This module is designed to give healthcare workers involved in the care of women with diabetes mellitus who are pregnant or planning pregnancy or who develop diabetes during pregnancy, the necessary knowledge and skills to be able to provide high quality care as outlined in the National Service Framework.

-Intended for GPs, hospital doctors, nurse practitioners, midwives, community nurses and other health care workers involved in the care of people with diabetes.
-Taught as an intensive study block, comprising lectures and group work. The teaching and learning style is interactive, drawing on both the expert teachers and the experience of other students.

-MSc route: available as an option on the MSc in Diabetes or MSc in Diabetes (Paediatrics) programmes

Entry Requirements

Candidates must satisfy the Board of Graduate Studies’ requirements for entry. Normally, candidates should have obtained an honours degree or a final qualification of a professional society acceptable to the University. Candidates will also be considered if they have other appropriate professional qualifications and at least two years experience in an appropriate healthcare setting.
