International Economic Law LLM/PGDip

Course Description

Mode of study

LLM - 1 year full time, 2 years part time
Diploma - 7 months

Course details

Are you looking to gain a theoretical and practical introduction to the main legal issues arising from the globalisation of the world economy? This course focuses specifically on the interplay between international and national regulatory frameworks, through attention to macro-level regulation and micro-level ventures, contracts and transactions.

In the core module, you’ll explore recent significant restructuring of international institutions and the persistent erosion of the traditional boundaries dividing public and private international law. You’ll then choose a further five optional modules from an extensive selection of law modules and approved non-law modules.

Our programme examines both the wider issues of governance of the world economy and the specific legal issues arising from various types of international business transactions. You’ll gain a working knowledge of practical legal problems, but the course is equally suitable if you are seeking to embark on an academic career in Law.

3284.png The options for a person wishing to study International Economic Law as a degree are limited. Thankfully the University of Warwick proposed that degree. Initially I applied and enrolled at Warwick because of the increasing reputation of the institution and some leading academics. I know this is why I decided to make that step after graduating from the University of Brussels and working at the European Parliament for a year. After spending two months at Warwick I would recommend the program to everyone motivated and interested in the field.

Why? Friendly and helpful tutors, really interesting lecturers who emphasize a practical approach of ‘law in context’, amazing staff with a real open door policy, these are just some of the advantages of Warwick law school. Services such as ‘careers and skills’, Warwick Sport and POP will help you integrate, reach your goals and have fun. Overall Warwick is an experience worth living. I have met amazing people with extremely interesting backgrounds and professors that have gone out of their way to propose something innovative. I am sure the relations I have built here will last for many years.

I would advise new students to seek information on the modules, on the diverse services offered and to attend the postgrad seminars. I am sure that a lot of the current postgrads will gladly answer any questions you might have honestly, the Law School can put you in contact with us. If you do come to Warwick… enjoy your time here, it goes by extremely fast and you will remember it forever.
