Before coming to Swansea I was working for all most two and a half years at Virtusa Pvt Ltd in Sri Lanka - an IT Outsourcing and Consultancy firm. I wanted to grow in my career and so I decided to continue with my higher education. I did my undergraduate at UOW (University of Wales) hence why I selected UWTSD again.
I think the MBA at UWTSD has definitely been a very good choice in terms of higher studies. The experience of learning and interacting with such a diverse class and such a knowledgeable lecture panel has definitely been a plus point!
For me, one of the most valuable aspects of the programme has been the opportunity to work with fellow students from different nations, as they all bring varying ideas to the table. Group discussions bring out new ideas and perspectives from individuals and this helps us to learn more from each other. A good example was our project for Laing O'Rourke where we all came together to brainstorm a new framework for a session of problem solving. This gave us the opportunity not only to work alongside a global firm, but to also understand the real needs of the business world.
The MBA programme has increased my confidence and knowledge of real-world business operations. It will definitely help me reach greater heights in terms of my future career.
Before I joined the MBA course, I was a Management Trainee at Enterprise Rent-A-Car. I then decided to return to University full-time to do my MBA, following some advice and guidance from lecturers at the UWTSD.
I feel that this programme is the perfect course to advance my knowledge and give me better job prospects in the future. The MBA has helped develop me leadership skills, marketing skills and communication skills. Through excellent teaching, marketing experience, group work and gaining invaluable knowledge.
The MBA has given me a number of great networking opportunities, through various industry visits and guest speakers. I have gained many different experiences which I believe will help me to advance in the management industry that I was in before I started the course.
