Kristine Clifford

The MA in Specialist Journalism set me up with the tools and knowledge to establish myself within the UK media industry. Our weekly workshops consisted of writing articles, creating videos and producing magazines, which gave us the skills of an multimedia journalist. We had in-depth discussions of law and ethics within the industry, as well as a course in research. The continual practice of writing, researching, and developing stories created generated self-assurance within work placements, and now in my new career.

Stephen Jones

I chose Specialist Journalism because I realised not every wordsmith was put on this earth to become a famous novelist. Deep down, I always knew journalism was my calling, I just needed to believe in myself more. To have belief was exactly what this university and its formidable lecturers taught me. This MA helped me stupendously as a journalist and gave me so much more confidence within my craft. As I chose to specialise in sports journalism, I was able to secure some great internships that shaped my understanding of the industry and bulked up my CV in the process.
