This course offers modular professional training, providing successful graduates with all the requirements to carry out a range of discrete evidence-based interventions with children and young people (CYP). This course does not require prior learning or experience in the field of mental health and is therefore open to those with no prior knowledge in this area. This allows those who would have otherwise been excluded from this form of training to have access to a career within CYP’s mental-health services.
Clinical placements are provided as part of this training, allowing you access to – and experience of – working within public-sector mental-health services. On qualification, jobs may become available within these services.

This course runs as a sequential modularised structure designed to build knowledge and skills from theory to practice. Subjects covered include developmental theories • psychopathology • healthcare legislation • therapeutic interaction and relationship • assessment and formulation • specific CBT-informed interventions • supervised practice.
Our taught modules are assessed by a variety of methods including essays, clinical activity reports, clinical commentary, and portfolios.
