Careers in Sport and Exercise Science can develop in at least two directions. Firstly you can help elite athletes reach their optimum sports performance. Secondly you can help the general population to improve fitness through exercise referral and community programmes.
“I was unsure about studying as a mature student but the staff have been very supportive and are always willing to take the time to help. The laboratory testing sessions and using the equipment have been really interesting and informative.
I have enjoyed the course at Sunderland, I am now looking to pursue post graduate study to help change my career path.”
The lecturers, the academic staff and the lab technicians have all been the scaffold who undoubtedly supported and guided me throughout each academic year. I would say I have been very lucky to have such fantastic lecturers that have responded immediately to any questions or queries I have asked or emailed. Constructive criticism and positive feedback has always been provided and has always added to my motivation when writing assignments and revising for exams. I have also been very fortunate to be given the opportunities to take part in extra curricula coaching awards. I know this has hugely contributed towards coaching jobs and voluntary work I have completed and still take part in alongside my academic studies.
I would strongly recommend studying within the faculty of sport and exercise sciences at Sunderland University because I know, witnessed and experienced how ‘life changing’ studying here can be.
Sunderland's typical offer will be a 2:2 honours degree in a subject related to sport. We will consider applicants from other subjects though we may ask for a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and experience of sport and exercise sciences.
Recipient: University of Sunderland
