This course is for professionals from statutory, voluntary and independent sector agencies. It’s suitable for social workers, health visitors, doctors, nurses, CP liaison teachers and members of fostering and adoption teams.
If you work in a residential, community, hospital or day care setting and you’re involved in safeguarding and other statutory assessments, the course will enhance your capability.

There’s a CPD route for qualified practitioners: you can take modules one at a time, as stand-alone courses. You can use the credits to build up to a degree at your own pace if you want to.
Teaching and assessment
Teaching is conducted through a combination of lectures, tutorials, seminars, small-group work and problem-solving.
2:2 honours degree plus a professional qualification. You should be working in a setting that supports your studies: parts of the course are assessed through direct work with children and their families or carers. English language requirements: overall IELTS grade of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component, or equivalent.
