Suitable for

A graduate of any discipline with three or more years’ work experience featuring a significant level of responsibility at a supervisory level.
Candidates on the MBA course will most likely be working as well as studying. The modular structure of the programme provides good levels of flexibility to allow candidates to continue their commitment to employers or the demands of their own business.

Programme details

Our MBA programme is available via three distinct learning pathways; The Salford MBA, MBA: Digital Business and MBA: Sports Business. Each pathway her been formulated in partnership with our leading research centres to impart the latest in academic theory and professional practice.


The course comprises of four blocks of two day intensive study periods, followed by independent study and online support through the University's virtual learning environment, Blackboard.

Each module is taken and assessed over a six week block. In the final semester, you will act as a consultant to an external organisation, providing advice and solutions for a real business problem.

The first six weeks are taught through block delivery to give you a solid foundation in the project, and the final six weeks are supervised on the business related project. Teaching is delivered through a combination of lectures, seminars and tutorials, and employs a range of learning activities. The course includes a one week study trip to a European or international business school to develop your awareness of national and international business.

Core modules:

- Economics with Financial Management (30 credits)
- Marketing with Operations Management (30 cresits)
- Organisational Behaviour and Change (30 credits)


Over the duration of your course, a range of assessment techniques will be used. Types of assessment include: essays, assignments, exams, multiple-choice tests, online tests, group reports and portfolio work.

Career potential

Employability is an important focus of the MBA and many Salford graduates go on to leading roles in large multinational organisations, as Chief Operating Officers or Senior Vice- Presidents. Others develop their own organisations and take
on the role of Managing Director within those.

Vice Chancellor’s Undergraduate Excellence ScholarshipThis award is worth either £3000 or £5000 depending on the programme you enrol on.Vice Chancellor’s Postgraduate Excellence ScholarshipThis award is worth £4000 for the MBA, MSc Petroleum and Gas Engineering and MSc Gas Engineering and Management programmes; and either £3000 or £2000 for all other programmes.Country discount schemeThis bursary is worth £1000 to students studying full-time postgraduate taught programmes from World Bank classified low/ low-medium income countries. A full list of countries that qualify is available here. These awards are made in addition to any other scholarship we offer. So if you are eligible for the Vice Chancellors Postgraduate scholarship of £3000, and are a national of one of the qualifying countries for this discount, you would receive £4000 in total.

Who will receive the awards?
All full-time international students (those paying international fees) are eligible to be considered for one of the Vice Chancellors awards based on their previous academic experience at undergraduate level – part-time students are eligible, but the award will be issued on a pro-rata basis. The awards are also available to self-sponsored students. The country discounts are available to nationals of qualifying countries only. You will need a degree in any discipline, or alternative professional qualifications of an equivalent level, plus at least three years managerial or professional work experience.
