Economics (MSc)

Course Description

This course will equip you with the tools of the professional economist, for work in government, international organisations and business, or as preparation for economics research.

The course is based on rigorous training in core areas of economics and an optional specialisation. You can decide to select one of three specialist pathways or to study across them: this will give you both breadth and depth of understanding of economics in a systematic way and an opportunity to combine theoretical, methodological and practical issues in a rigorous but also extraordinarily flexible approach. Optional modules in each pathway will give further choice for specialisation.

See the website http://www.reading.ac.uk/ready-to-study/study/subject-area/economics-pg/msc-economics.aspx

[{What will you study?]]
The three available pathways reflect the department’s research strengths and are:
- Political economy of development: modules include Macroeconomics and microeconomics for developing countries

- Labour economics: modules include Economics of labour and Topics in labour economics

- Urban and regional economics: modules include Urban Economics and Economics of land and development planning

There is also the option of studying flexibly across the pathways.
