This degree is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Once you complete your studies and have found your first job, you can begin training to become a Chartered Surveyor.

This is a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyor’s accredited management course focusing on the real estate and property development sector. You will be taught by staff from a wide range of professional practice, including chartered surveyors, architects, structural engineers, economists, planners and lawyers. Their hands-on experience is reflected in the modern and diverse nature of this course, which provides you with a flexible degree programme that allows you to tailor the course to your own interests, whilst acquiring a range of skills and experiences that will be of direct benefit in the workplace.
You will study the following themes:
Professional Practice Property Law Planning and Development Property Economics Building Methods Investment Valuation Estate Management
You will undertake an independent dissertation/project during the final stage of the course. For this, you will be able to choose a subject area of particular personal interest within the broad overall scope of the programme.
Approaches to learning include teaching salons, studios, seminars and guest speakers as well as site visits, fieldwork and other hands-on activities. Student-centred learning environments based on employability are central to the course and will provide you with valuable skills and experience in activities such as teamwork, report production and giving presentations. All teaching approaches are supported by online resources including electronic tutor-prepared study guides.
Alongside the more traditional forms of assessment, such as exams, this course is assessed in a variety of different ways, including coursework, group work and presentations. You will also be expected to complete a dissertation project, in a subject of your own choice, which will be developed and conducted with the advice and guidance of a personal tutor.
We have very strong links with a wide range of professionals working in real estate and property development and have been offering RICS accredited degree courses for over 35 years. Graduates of this course are very highly regarded and sought-after because the course provides the employability skills and knowledge for a wide range of professional roles in real estate, property development and the environment, both in the UK and internationally.
Importantly, completion of the course qualifies you to begin the final stage of the process to complete professional training to become a Chartered Surveyor and a full member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors with the qualification MRICS. The profession then offers an extraordinarily wide range of career opportunities in the management and development of property and the environment. A good honours degree or equivalent in any discipline. Business Studies, Social Sciences, Humanities and Liberal Arts, Geography, Economics or Law are examples, but any applicant with demonstrable commitment to, enthusiasm for or experience in the field with a good standard of literacy will also be considered.English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.0 with no component score below 5.5.
