This degree will provide skills and knowledge which are urgently required throughout post-accession Europe to meet European Union standards for water and coastal management. It requires all students (and many of the lecturers) to travel within Europe. The programme is taught in English.
This programme aims to provide a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the scientific, political and socio-economic basis of water and coastal management as well as to develop the skills necessary to work within this field. It will be taught at two centres (home and host) and will include a wide range of lecturers from universities across Europe who will travel to the host university. The qualification obtained will be recognised throughout Europe.
The first term will be spent in Plymouth (your home institute) studying core modules which focus on coastal science and management as well as skills for research. In the second term you will travel to the University of Cadiz in Spain. Modules will be taught in English and will cover freshwater, coastal and general environmental management. European students may apply for financial support from ERASMUS for the time spent overseas.
The third term will be spent in either the University of Algarve or University of Bergen undertaking your research dissertation.
