Course Description

Course Aims

Offers knowledge and expertise in providing the student with an in-depth understanding of the legal and economic aspects of architectural practice and construction procurement, and of the related skills necessary to practice effectively on entry into the architectural profession. The course will foster the development of critical and independent judgement, and the ability to manage complex processes. It also develops a critical awareness of current problems in the field.

Course Description

This is a two-stage postgraduate Diploma/Masters course.

Stage 1, leading to the qualification of Postgraduate Diploma, comprises six modules:
• Construction Industry
• Practice Management
• Construction Law
• International Construction
• Professional Services
• Project Management

Stage 2, leading to the Masters, consists of a dissertation module in which students are able to pursue in greater depth an aspect of the subject that interests them. Both the Diploma and Masters have RIBA/ARB recognition at Part 3 level. This course is taught while the student is in an approved work placement, and is taught largely by distance learning methods with the requirement to attend three short residential courses.

Our PGT programmes are open to candidates from architectural and built environment backgrounds and draw on established and widely recognised research strengths within the School. If you are a UK or EU resident with a good academic and /or work experience record we would like to hear from you.
