Advanced Practice (MSc/PgCert/PGDip)

Course Description

The School of Healthcare Sciences Advanced Practice programme offers students their choice of generic and specialist pathways, providing the opportunity to explore their specialist areas of practice and obtain a degree of relevant title within the MSc in Advanced Practice programme.

Students are able to study the Generic pathway, or one of the following specialist pathways:
• Community Health Studies
• Education for Health Professionals
• Non-Medical Prescribing

The Generic pathway through the Advanced Practice MSc programme offers a flexible, innovative and individualised educational opportunity to meet the requirements of health, social care and other relevant professionals within a developing, evolving healthcare climate. The programme will enable practising professionals from across the primary, secondary and tertiary care spectrum to demonstrate an increased level of competence through the development of advanced professional and clinical decision making, and leadership skills which will enable the delivery of evidence-based care that meets the health and social care needs of individuals, families and society.

Eligible programmes include taught full-time and part-time taught programmes leading to a master's. Not included are our distance learning programmes and taught programmes leading to a postgraduate certificate, postgraduate diploma, as well as research master's such as the MPhil and MRes.‘Home’ and ‘EU’ students only (as classified for fee paying purposes, tuition fee status is determined after submitting an application to study) who are accepted on to an eligible postgraduate taught programme leading to a master's degree, and with a firm focus on academic excellence.For applicants from countries outside the European Union, we also offer a range of highly prestigious international scholarships.

Application Procedure

We have two deadlines after which scholarship decisions will be made:6 April and 27 July 2016.The Masters Excellence Scholarship application form can be accessed once you have submitted an application to study to an eligible postgraduate taught programme leading to a master’s degree. Entry Requirements

These programmes are normally open to registered practitioners who possess an initial or higher degree of an approved institution. Where applicants do not hold a first degree, applications will be considered on an individual basis. For such applicants, evidence of relevant experience and continued professional development will be requested
