Wireless and Microwave Communication Engineering (MSc)


Course Description

The aim of this course is to provide, at an advanced level, knowledge and skills in wireless and microwave communication engineering, and to develop related skills, enhancing the engineering competency of its graduates.

The course will allow people to develop expertise in new and evolving areas such as advanced microwave computer aided design and communication systems engineering. The course will cover laboratory and advanced engineering management alongside modules in HF and RF engineering, signal processing, advanced microwave CAD, fabrication and test, advanced communication systems, advanced communication networks and non-linear RF design and concepts, as well as options to study the fundamentals of micro and nano-technology or optoelectronics.

Assessment: Examinations, coursework and an individual project.

Eligible programmes include taught full-time and part-time taught programmes leading to a master's. Not included are our distance learning programmes and taught programmes leading to a postgraduate certificate, postgraduate diploma, as well as research master's such as the MPhil and MRes.‘Home’ and ‘EU’ students only (as classified for fee paying purposes, tuition fee status is determined after submitting an application to study) who are accepted on to an eligible postgraduate taught programme leading to a master's degree, and with a firm focus on academic excellence.For applicants from countries outside the European Union, we also offer a range of highly prestigious international scholarships.

We have two deadlines after which scholarship decisions will be made:

6 April and 27 July 2016.

Entry Requirements

An upper 2nd class UK Honours degree (or equivalent) from a British or recognised overseas university. Suitable for graduates in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline. Applicants with relevant professional experience are also considered.Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to pass either IELTS/TOEFL exams. Minimum requirements are: IELTS score of 6.5, or TOEFL score of 600 (250 computer-based).
