You will study fundamental topics in data science and analytics across both the School of Mathematics and School of Computer Science and Informatics. These will allow you to develop data handling and extraction skills, programming skills, machine learning and informatics skills, and problem solving and modelling skills, appropriate for employment in these sectors or leading on to further study by research.
The programme will give you the opportunity to put the theory into practice, through case studies and project work in the ‘real-world’. An important feature of the MSc is the project dissertation, allowing you to apply these principles in a creative manner and within complex data and problem solving environments, together with the ability to communicate ideas, principles and findings effectively.
A first degree (minimum second class honours) from a recognised university in a numerate subject, such as Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics, Computer Science, Management Science, Economics, Engineering or a suitable Science degree.A good level of English language, both written and oral (applicants whose first language is not English will normally require an IELTS score of 6.5).
