The School of English and the Nottingham University Business School have long been at the forefront of research and teaching in the area of communication and entrepreneurship.
This masters course provides an exciting opportunity to investigate communication in the context of entrepreneurship and business. The programme will introduce you to the multidisciplinary dimensions of professional communication, exploring in detail how linguistic analysis can illuminate and enhance communication in businesses and a range of other workplaces.
The course explores the role of communication in business-related human affairs using a variety of approaches, ranging from discourse analysis and interactional sociolinguistics to corpus linguistics. The key areas of marketing, project management, innovation management and entrepreneurship will be explored in modules offered by the Business School.
The course concludes with a research dissertation/project, jointly supervised by the School of English and University of Nottingham Business School, undertaken during the summer period.
Providing routes in to the AHRC-funded Midlands3Cities doctoral training partnership Midlands3Cities Doctoral Training Partnership, the University of Nottingham is offering 14 Research Preparation Masters studentships to start September 2015. Midlands3Cities Nottingham Masters studentships are intended to prepare students for doctoral study so it is crucial that applicants make a clear case for how the Masters will lead to an intended PhD programme. Awards will cover the University of Nottingham tuition fee and provide a stipend of £8,400. They do not guarantee subsequent doctoral funding, for which a separate application must be made.

These awards are available to outstanding students from the UK and EU who wish to pursue a Masters degree (MA or MRes) at the University of Nottingham in any area of the Arts and Humanities and areas eligible for AHRC funding in Law and Social Sciences.
Applicants are expected to hold a 2.1 (Upper 2nd class hons degree from British University or international equivalent) in relevant linguistic or literary studies. IELTS: 7.0 (no less than 6.0 in any element)
