The course focuses on the management of operations in manufacturing, service and distribution enterprises. It will prepare managers who will be able to help their companies build a competitive edge based on high levels of technical and managerial competence. The courses aim for a high level of integration between management techniques and the technologies that they control, with emphasis on the strategic relevance of situations.
Applications are welcome from graduates in engineering, management, and related disciplines. The courses are suitable for you if you want to pursue a career in operations management whether or not you have a first degree in a closely related area.
The course requires a major individual dissertation project that is undertaken in the summer. This is intended to integrate knowledge, methodology and practical skills. When these projects are successful in advancing knowledge, we encourage our students to present their findings as conference papers or journal articles.
I chose to study at Nottingham University Business School because of its outstanding reputation among other business schools in the UK. The Supply Chain and Operations Management course was very well-structured, which contributed to my choice.
From a professional perspective, I can say that I was given all the right tools to become a future leader, I was constantly put in challenging academic and social environments which helped shape my personality and style of thinking in a way I never thought possible.
On a more personal level, I met my best friends at Nottingham! At first I was really surprised by the diverse cultural backgrounds of the students, and I found that this had advantages as there was always something to talk about. I can honestly say that Nottingham is a city of great culture, and has the best nightlife among all other cities in the UK.
I received a job offer from Rolls-Royce to join their graduate Leadership Programme in Supply Chain Planning & Control.
