The course focuses on the management of operations in business, industry and the public sector.
It will prepare managers who will be able to help their companies build a competitive edge based on high levels of technical and managerial competence. The courses aim for a high level of integration between management techniques and the technologies that they control.
Applications are welcome from graduates in engineering, management, and related disciplines. The courses are suitable for you if you want to pursue a career in operations management whether or not you have a first degree in a closely related area.
The course requires a major individual dissertation project that is undertaken in the summer. This is intended to integrate knowledge, methodology and practical skills. When these projects are successful in advancing knowledge, we encourage our students to present their findings as conference papers or journal articles.
After working for 6 years in a Multinational Non-profit Organization as an Operations and Maintenance Facilities Manager and becoming internationally certified by IFMA, I wanted to make a transition into the industrial sector but felt the need to further my education and explore current best practices in the business world.
I wanted a Masters Degree program that would fine tune my skills in efficiency improvements as well as consolidate my operations management experience. The Msc. Industrial Engineering and Operations Management at Nottingham University Business School came to me as a unique opportunity to achieve my aspirations as I could not find another equivalent degree combination anywhere else.
The response and support I received from the Business School’s admissions, administrative and academic staff, from initial enquiry to graduation, was impressive and highly commendable.
The opportunity and support to carry out my Masters Dissertation project placement with Signalling Solutions Ltd, a local engineering consultancy and project management company added to the professional taught course to make this the greatest educational experience of my life.
