MSc Management of Projects (incorporating Construction, Commercial and Engineering Project Management)

Course Description

This programme aims to provide state-of-the-art project management education at postgraduate level. You can choose to follow the generic Management of Projects route or to pursue a more specific programme from a commercial, construction or engineering perspective.

The programme is based on a template of six core course units and four optional or directed units dependent upon which pathway a student selects. The core course units are common to each route and typically include: Commercial Management; Management of Projects; People and Organisation; Project Planning and Control; Project Finance; Research Methodology. Optional and directed course-units typically include: Conflict Management and Dispute Resolution; Environmental Assessment; Public Private Partnership; Quality Management and HSE; Commercial Contract Management; Decision Making under Uncertainty; Infrastructure Projects in Developing Countries; Project-Based Operations Management. However the course units available for you to choose will be dependent upon your chosen route.

During the first two semesters students follow a programme of lectures, tutorials and assignments and take examinations in January and in April/May. Following the successful completion of ten course units the remaining months are spent on a research project culminating in the submission of a dissertation in mid September.
