CMH offers a unique opportunity to have a focused and in depth programme in the health sector while at the same time gain a broad understanding of how business and marketing functions operate. This is combined with the opportunity to study in two different cultures, on the east cost of the USA at Virginia Tech and in Lugano at the USI Università della Svizzera italiana, based in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland.
At the end of the combined programme, successful students will receive both a Master of Science in Business with concentration in Marketing from Virginia Tech and a Master of Science in Communication, Management & Health from USI.
The primary job market for candidates earning this degree is the marketing and communication functions of pharmaceutical, bio tech, and insurance companies, government and other organizations in the health sector where the combination of analytical skills and understanding of the health sector will provide a competitive advantage. The skills and knowledge obtained from the degree can also be used in many other areas such as communication, management, marketing and other market related functions.
The Foundation for the Lugano Faculties of USI and the Università della Svizzera italiana, will award a total of 60 one-off study grants of the amount of 4'000 CHF each.Distribution of the grants will be as followed: 20 grants will be awarded to students that pursued a Bachelor degree at a Swiss University, 20 to students that pursued a Bachelor degree at an Italian University and 20 to students that pursued a Bachelor degree in a University from other countries.
Value of Scholarship(s)
The merit based grants are given to students admitted as first-year students of a USI Master programme. Merit is determined based on the results of the academic degree that gives access to the Master (usually the bachelor's).
Candidates are kindly asked to send the complete application by July 31st. All applicants will be notified by the middle of August.
The formal requirement for admission is a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from a recognised academic institution in the fields of Communication Sciences, Economics or related disciplines. A recognized English test (i.e. TOEFL or ESLN) with satisfactory score for non-native speaker is required, as well as an intermediate statistics skills.Applicants with other degrees or significant professional experiences will be evaluated individually on the basis of their curricula; those applicants might be required to attend additional courses considered a prerequisite for attending the Master's programme.
