Course Description

One crucial aspect of a successful organisation is its ability to manage exposures to risk. In the financial markets, the ability to manage risky positions effectively is both a fundamental skill and a regulatory requirement.

This programme will provide you with the mathematical and econometric skills and financial training necessary to address the issues related to quantifying, pricing and managing exposures to risk in the financial markets.

Upon completion of the MSc in Financial Risk Management students will be able to:

- demonstrate a detailed understanding of the fundamental theories used to price securities and derivative securities
- derive and apply these models appropriately when quantifying, pricing and managing risk
- identify, quantify and manage exposures to financial risk
- construct and manage a portfolio of risky securities
- use appropriate mathematical and econometric tools to quantify, price and manage exposure to financial risk.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of a 2.1 degree (or international equivalent) in Economics, Finance or Mathematics from an internationally ranked university. Alternatively, minimum of a 2.1 degree (or international equivalent), from an internationally ranked university, in a discipline with a strong quantitative element such as Engineering or Sciences. All applicants should demonstrate substantial exposure to statistics and/or econometrics in their primary degree.
