Plant Sciences (Masters in Research Advanced Biological Sciences, Plant Sciences Pathway)

Course Description

The Plant Sciences pathway in the MRes (Advanced Biological Sciences) at Liverpool spans a large range of research from plant ecology through to genomics of agriculturally important crops. You can find a list of staff with interests in plant science research here:

and when making an application please to let us know which of these staff you would like to work with.

Programme structure

Our Masters in Research is focused on a year-long research project (worth 120 credits), based in one of our research groups.

The MRes also includes taught modules which provide formal research training. Here students take 4 (15 credit) modules in subjects such as Research Methods, Informatics and Biostatistics.

The taught modules typically run in the first term; there is then a strong focus on the research project from January to September.

The overall programme is then 180 credits, the project is 120 credits and the taught modules take up 60 credits.

IIB - Our research institute

Within the Institute of Integrative Biology, our MRes programme includes very diverse research areas, from molecular and biomedical research through to evolutionary and ecological work. We focus on integrating and applying modern methods and approaches across the life sciences: and you can find out about the Institute of Integrative Biology here: http://www.liv.ac.uk/integrative-biology/
