Approved Mental Health Professional

Course Description

The primary purpose of this programme is to ensure that all professionals gain the knowledge, competences and values needed to carry out the specific duties of AMHPs under current mental health legislation.

The AMHP is a professional, Masters level, Post-Qualifying programme, approved by the GSCC.

The Lincoln University programme has an established record of specialist mental health training, having run the former “ASW” programmes for many years. Our first AMHP programme was in 2009.

This AMHP commences with a seven week “Academic Block” followed by a 35 day supervised, statutory mental health placement. The teaching block is full time, however the Mental health practice placement could be taken on a longer term part time basis.

All AMHP candidates are provided with comprehensive documentation and will be enrolled as students of the University of Lincoln, allowing access to university resources including the library and electronic Blackboard system.

Visit the Approved Mental Health Professional page on the University of Lincoln website for more details!
