MSc Social Work

Course Description

This programme meets all of the profressional qualification requirements, enabling completing students to become registered Social Work practictioners with GSCC (General Social Care Council).

The MSc Social Work programme is based upon Enquiry and Action Learning (EAL) principles. EAL is a group-based model of professional education, with key features being problem scenarios-based analysis and student-centred and directed learning. The programme is actively linked to practice/agency project development. There are clear international links with opportunities for joint study, study visits and placements in countries including Germany, Greece, Sweden, Denmark, Russia and Canada.

This programme has been validated by the University and approved by the Health and Social Care Professional Council.

Entry Requirements

Good Honours degree in a relevant subject are (normally 2:1 or above), Grade C or above in GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English Language. Relevant prior experience in human services work (voluntary or employment). Passing screening processes in terms of professional suitability (CRB/ISA checks: health declaration; professional references)
