Grad Dip/MSc Nursing (Intellectual Disability Studies)


Course Description

The Graduate Diploma level programme will be offered over one year. The MSc programme will be offered over a subsequent year (minimum). Entry to the MSc programme will be based on achieving an overall award of a 2:1 standard on the Graduate Diploma programme.

Successful completion of the Graduate Diploma will provide students with the academic qualifications necessary to be considered for Clinical Nurse Specialist posts. The MSc level award will provide students with the academic qualifications to be considered for Advanced Nursing Practice posts.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should normally possess a Primary Degree (Level 8 - National Qualifications Authority of Ireland) and have been engaged in practice as a Registered Nurse for at least two years. Those who do not meet the normal academic requirements will also be considered. All students must be registered with the An Bord Altranais and demonstrate proof of access to relevant practice placements.
