The EdD is designed to empower professional educators to conduct robust research focused on improving policy, practice and the quality of education.
The programme aims to: - provide you with the skills and knowledge to complete a Doctoral thesis - enhance your professional capabilities through critical analysis - give you the opportunity to access an international learning community through research groups and our new virtual learning environment
The first year will begin with a residential weekend in early October where there will be the opportunity to meet your main supervisor and other students on the programme. In the first year students are required to complete four assignments. The assignments cover areas such as identifying a research issue, acquiring relevant research skills, developing a conceptual framework for the enquiry, and writing a proposal for the thesis.
In years two to five students will work on the thesis and be required to submit Progress Reports at regular intervals. A Probation Report will normally be submitted at the end of Year Two.
An important feature of the EdD is the e-environment which will provide you with structured support throughout your study.
