MA Public Relations and Society

Course Description

This degree provides an in-depth understanding of the PR industry and its role in social, cultural and economic life.

This programme will help to develop your understanding of the principles of public relations work and its effects from a variety of theoretical perspectives. This critical sociological approach to PR is unique and differentiates the MA from other taught postgraduate degrees in PR and/or media.

During the degree, you will learn to understand and critique PR as a socio-cultural phenomenon, a cultural intermediary rather than only an organisational function. You will become familiar with the relationship between PR and the other communications industries (advertising, branding, lobbying, the media) and be able to consider their cumulative effect on society at local, national and global levels.

Visit the MA Public Relations and Society page on the University of Leeds website for more details!
