Our new MSc in International Hospital Management is designed for health professionals with experience in public, private or NGO hospital settings seeking career advancement as hospital managers. It focuses on the needs of those managing hospitals in countries with developing health systems.
This innovative cutting-edge course applies established operational principles from the business world to hospital environments to give you the vision, direction, and governance skills needed for effective hospital management.
On completion you will gain: • An understanding of hospital management and leadership, roles and functions of hospitals, organisational structures, and planning and policy issues. • An in-depth understanding of the operational management issues within hospital departments, planning and managing of resources including, staffing and finance and quality improvement • A unique three-week hospital experience attachment in an NHS district hospital.
You will have the opportunity of attending an optional one-week study tour in Geneva exploring and networking with a range of international organisations.
The new MSc is built upon our former Hospital Management programme which has been offered since 1992 and is one of only two courses in the UK focusing on hospitals in countries with developing healthcare systems.
A 2.2 honours degree or an international equivalent in a related subject, for example, medicine, allied health field, finance or administration, plus 1 year working in a hospital or health service. Alternatively, a professional diploma in a health related discipline with 3 years relevant experience. IELTS 6.5 with at least 6.0 in all components.
