PG Dip Conference Interpreting

Course Description

You will receive professional training in interpreting, working between English your two other languages. You will gain experience of key fields in which interpreters typically work, including international affairs, politics, business, science and technology. You will work with seasoned professionals with track records in key international organisations and commercial settings.

In addition to core modules in consecutive and simultaneous interpreting, we offer a range of optional modules tailored to the needs of our students. These include modules which cover aspects of translation theory and practice, as well as more specialised introductions to computer-assisted translation and subtitling.

The course is designed to prepare you to make informed decisions in your future career, and to be able to reflect critically on the needs of the client and your performance.

Visit the PG Dip Conference Interpreting page on the University of Leeds website for more details!

Entry Requirements

A 2:1 honours degree, or equivalent, and an excellent command of two languages in addition to English. Exceptionally, candidates with equivalent qualifications or experience will be considered. Applicants also undertake an interview to assess their suitability for interpreting training. Enrolment onto translation modules is conditional on passing an entry test.
