The programme aims to introduce students to a wide range of musical studies at an advanced level, to develop presentational skills, technical proficiency and interpretation in musical performance, and to encourage an interest in performance research to enhance musical and artistic development. Students choose between 90 and 120 credits from the following modules: Instrumental/Vocal Recital, supported by one-to-one specialist teaching, performance classes and masterclasses; Concert/Song-Cycle/Extended Work, which allows students to explore the challenges of performing a large-scale musical structures; Applied Performance Studies which allows pursuit of distinctive individual performance projects such as ensemble work, the organisation and delivery of a specific concert event, or the exploration of pedagogic interests; and Professional Studies. Remaining credits can be chosen from a range of disciplines (including musicology, music psychology, and composition). This flexible programme is suitable for students who wish to focus on performing interests, or wish to take a smaller and more selective suite of modules than the 180-credit MMus Performance programme.

A 2:1 honours degree in Music, or in which Music was a major part, including performance elements appropriate to this programme. Alternative qualifications or relevant professional experience may also be considered individually. Candidates will normally be expected to demonstrate suitable practical ability in their chosen instrument/vocal field at interview/audition.
