MSc Electronic and Electrical Engineering


Course Description

Commercial products today combine many technologies, and industry is increasingly interdisciplinary. This course is designed to meet this demand, giving you an interdisciplinary knowledge base in modern electronics including power, communications, control and embedded processors.

You’ll develop a broad grasp of a range of interlocking disciplines, combining core modules developing your practical lab skills and industry awareness with a range of optional modules that allow you to focus on topics that suit your interests or career plans. Next-generation silicon technologies, electric drives and generating electric power from renewable sources are among the topics you could study.

This course will appeal to people with a broad interest in electronics and communications, as well as those who are interested in modern communications techniques, radio propagation, cellular mobile systems, control systems, power and drives, and modern system on-chip technology.

Head of School Scholarship - School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (International applicants) - 20+ Awards

This is an automatic scholarship worth £3,000 for full time international fee paying students awarded on condition of you achieving an upper second class (or equivalent) degree.

Eligibility

Any international applicant who has been offered a place on any of the postgraduate masters courses within the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (the applicant must also be liable to pay full fees at the international rate of £16,800 and not be in receipt of any other University of Leeds award).

Alumni Bursary - 20+ Awards

The University will pay 10% of your fees for each year of the course. If no fees paid then no bursary is awarded. This bursary is open to students who are commencing their studies from September 2013 and can not be awarded retrospectively. To receive this bursary you must not be in receipt of any other Faculty of Engineering award or scholarship.

10% of your fees for each year of the course

Eligibility

Any former student of the University of Leeds who studies a postgraduate qualification in the Faculty of Engineering.

This is an automatic bursary but you have to inform us and provide evidence that you are former students of the University of Leeds.

First Class Scholarship (Home/EU applicants) - 20+ Awards

This is an automatic scholarship awarded on condition of you achieving a first class degree, or equivalent. Applicants must be self-funding, classified as home/EU for tuition fee purposes and not be in receipt of any other University of Leeds award.

Any home/EU applicant who has been offered a place to study on any of the postgraduate masters courses within the Faculty of Engineering.

Entry Requirements

A degree equivalent to a UK upper second class (2:1) honours degree or equivalent in appropriate numerate disciplines usually electronic engineering, but others may be considered. Applicants with a good lower second class (2:2) honours degree and who have relevant experience may also be considered and should not be deterred from applying.
