The MSc Psychology programme is designed to develop competent psychology researchers, with an emphasis on producing original research to address a current issue in psychology.
Students will receive training in different methods of data collection and analysis and will apply their skills to answering a specific research question under the supervision of an expert within the field. Depending on the research question, they will develop practical skills ranging from designing and programming experiments, devising questionnaire studies, or incorporating qualitative methods such as interviews.
This programme also serves as a foundation for further studies at Level 8 in Psychology, and will enable graduates to secure professional employment in areas that require advanced research skills particularly in academia, industry, the NHS and elsewhere in the Health and Social Care Sectors.
Students enrolled on this programme study one compulsory taught module in trimester 1 and complete a 50,000 word dissertation.
