M. Res. in Modern Languages

Course Description

The Masters by Research (MRes) programme in Modern Languages is designed for students who feel ready to write a substantial dissertation (25-30,000 words) at postgraduate level, with only a minimal taught element: namely the two Research Skills modules and one further option from the list available for other Masters students. Students receive individual supervision for the dissertation throughout the year, including the summer, completing the programme in September. You will have to submit a full research proposal and it is likely you will be interviewed about your research plans and organisation of the study.

Entry Requirements

Acceptance on to this programme is dependent on a strong undergraduate degree result and the availability of a suitable supervisor for the proposed work. Applicants should have a first degree in a related area and an IELTS score of 6.5 or above, with a 6.0 in writing and a 5.5 in all other skills.
