Forensic Podiatry MSc

Course Description

We are proud that our course currently: is the only course in the UK that offers the qualification in this specialist area. Is led by one of the world leaders in this area, Professor Wesley Vernon OBE. May enable you to recognise bare footprints and shoe wear patterns. Minimises disruption to your clinic time, as attendance on campus is required for blocks of study. Is taught by experts from a variety of fields including forensic science, law and biomechanics.

Forensic Podiatry is a developing clinical specialism embedded within podiatry practice. Understanding the relationship of the foot shape and function related to bare footprints and shoe wear patterns and its uses in forensic science are all central skills in this specialism. This course helps you to develop as an expert witness in the recognition of bare footprints and shoe wear patterns to assist in the solving of crimes. It also provides podiatrists with the opportunity to enhance your knowledge and skills in this exciting area of practice.

Entry Requirements

An Honours degree in Podiatry or an equivalent qualification. Individuals without Honours or with a Diploma in Podiatric Medicine will be considered on an individual basis. Be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or the relevant registration authority in your country of origin.If you trained overseas, you must be registered with an appropriate governing body. For applicants whose first language or language of instruction is not English you will need to meet the requirements of an English Language qualification. Minimum of IELTS 7.0 overall with no element lower than 6.5, will be considered acceptable, or equivalent.
