Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships is a programme of scholarships offered by the Scottish Government in collaboration with Scottish universities. Our chosen scholars are people who aspire to become influential leaders in their future careers. They have wide ranging interests outside their studies and a desire to broaden their personal and academic experience in Scotland.

Scholarships are available to citizens of the following countries: Canada, China (including Hong Kong), India, Pakistan and USA. Saltire Scholars will also have the opportunity to take part in a programme of activities over and above their studies, including dialogue with the academic and business community in Scotland.

The IMRCEES offers you the unique opportunity to combine a year of study in Glasgow in the UK with a year studying overseas (in English) at one of our renowned partner institutions and leads to the award of a double degree. It is recognised by the European Commission as an Erasmus Mundus Masters Course. Graduates of the programme will be equipped with the skills to address the myriad of socio-economic and political/security challenges of the 21st century in Russia, Central and Eastern Europe and its near/abroad neighbourhood.

Value: There are two different forms of scholarships, Category A (non-European applicants) and Category B (European applicants). The scholarships' terms depend on the student's country of origin/residence and main academic and/or professional activity.

Scholarship students will receive a fee waiver to cover the difference between the Erasmus Mundus scholarship contribution to participation costs and the actual participation costs. For Category A scholarship students this amounts to a fee waiver of €500 per semester and Category B scholarship students will receive a fee waiver of €250 per semester. The participation costs cover all tuition fees and health insurance; they do not include accommodation as well as other living expenses and travel.

The Trustees of the Canadian Centennial Scholarship Fund (CCSF) are pleased to announce the availability of funds for awards (£2000-£5000) to Canadian men and women for the academic year commencing in September 2018. Established in 1946, the Fulbright Scholarship program aims to increase mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States and other countries, through the exchange of persons, knowledge and skills. Approximately 20 Fulbright Scholarships are awarded each year to US graduates, regardless of age or subject, to study outside the USA. These awards are made on a competitive basis and are for the academic year of nine months. However, students on a 12 month taught Masters degree may be eligible to receive a three month extension.

Awards are available for lecturing or advanced research for a minimum of three months. Fellowships are offered for research librarians and academic administrators to spend three months gaining experience in the UK. Arts fellowships and professional fellowships are awarded to individuals in a variety of fields to enable them to spend a period of six to nine months in the UK. The Fulbright Commission promotes educational and cultural exchange between the United States and the United Kingdom in order to enhance mutual understanding and strengthen relations between the two countries. Fulbright makes awards through open competition to outstanding graduates who demonstrate leadership qualities and potential leaders of professional, academic and artistic excellence who are recognised in their field.

Eligibility

Awards are made to US graduate students for pre-doctoral study in the UK. Minimum grade point average: 3.5.
