Scholarships

This scheme makes annual awards for nine months taught postgraduate diploma courses on largely vocational subjects e.g. information technology, divinity and engineering. Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria above.

Eligible students can apply for an award consisting of a means tested maintenance grant. Other means tested supplementary allowances are available including reimbursement of travel expenses over £80.00 and payment of tuition fees.

The SAAS provides funding for Scottish domiciled students studying full time postgraduate courses. This means that you will have to have been ordinarily resident in the British Isles for the three years immediately proceeding the academic year in which the course begins. If you are not a UK or EU national you must be settled in the UK as indicated by the Immigration Act of 1971. You must also be ordinarily resident in Scotland at the time of application. Responsibility for the Scottish Studentship Scheme has now been transferred to the AHRB. Previously this was administered by the SAAS.

The Trustees of the Canadian Centennial Scholarship Fund (CCSF) are pleased to announce the availability of funds for awards (£2000-£5000) to Canadian men and women for the academic year commencing in September 2018. These awards are for academic and artistic studies in the UK, and are exclusively for students who have already commenced their multiyear studies in the UK. Up to 16 awards may be given, and include The Mary LeMessurier award for the study of History and the Belle Shenkman award for the Study of Arts.

The Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation is a UK charity, established in 1988 with a generous benefaction from Daiwa Securities Co Ltd. The Foundation’s purpose is to support closer links between Britain and Japan. It does this by

Established in 1946, the Fulbright Scholarship program aims to increase mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States and other countries, through the exchange of persons, knowledge and skills. Approximately 20 Fulbright Scholarships are awarded each year to US graduates, regardless of age or subject, to study outside the USA. These awards are made on a competitive basis and are for the academic year of nine months. However, students on a 12 month taught Masters degree may be eligible to receive a three month extension.

Awards are available for lecturing or advanced research for a minimum of three months. Fellowships are offered for research librarians and academic administrators to spend three months gaining experience in the UK. Arts fellowships and professional fellowships are awarded to individuals in a variety of fields to enable them to spend a period of six to nine months in the UK. The Fulbright Commission promotes educational and cultural exchange between the United States and the United Kingdom in order to enhance mutual understanding and strengthen relations between the two countries. Fulbright makes awards through open competition to outstanding graduates who demonstrate leadership qualities and potential leaders of professional, academic and artistic excellence who are recognised in their field.

Eligibility

Awards are made to US graduate students for pre-doctoral study in the UK. Minimum grade point average: 3.5. Priority will be given to those students who completed their first degree within the last five years.
