MA European Politics

Course Description

The MA in European Politics examines the political process of European integration, its origins, dynamics, and prospects. It addresses key issues in European governance including EU policy-making, federalism, democratisation/constitutionalism, and European identity.

Taught at the University’s Centre for European Governance (CEG, http://www.exeter.ac.uk/socialsciences/politics/research/centres/ceg), by renowned academics who have strong links with European political institutions, this programme will provide you with detailed knowledge and advanced critical understanding of the political process of European Union integration, its origins, dynamics and prospects within a rigorous theoretical and empirical framework.

Students have the option to study abroad in Paris, spending one term at the Centre d’études européennes de SciencesPo as part of the programme. Also there may be the opportunity to undertake an internship at the European Commission.

As a student on this programme you will have the option of participating in two study tours: the first in February, to visit EU institutions in Brussels, Strasbourg and Luxembourg; the second to the annual SUNY Model EU simulation, which usually takes place in April.
