Course Description

Our MSc Financial Econometrics builds on the strengths of our Department of Economics and Essex Business School in a unique way, by combining a practical approach to finance with a strong theoretical approach in econometrics. This mix of approaches is designed to make a successful graduate of this course very attractive to a variety of financial institutions, from investment banks and insurance companies to central banks and research departments.

Alongside our focus on financial econometrics, we provide a wide choice of optional modules, and a dissertation, allowing you to focus on topics of interest to you and your future plans. This course provides essential postgraduate skills that help you pursue a successful career in applied or quantitative finance, or undertake further research.

As well as our Department of Economics being rated third in the UK for research excellence in the most recent RAE, Essex Business School was also ranked second (accounting and finance subject area), meaning you are taught, supported and supervised by research-active staff who are leaders in their field.
