The Doctorate in Clinical Psychology has a strong local identity given its partnership with Essex-based trusts, as well as a special link with the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust in London. Essex- and Tavistock-based clinical psychologists make a significant contribution to the teaching, research, placement and other operational activities of the programme.
We train clinical psychologists to deliver integrative psychological services by drawing on a wide range of competencies as critical and reflective scientist-practitioners. The hope is that all trainees will later work in Essex or in the East of England region.
The programme gives a grounding in a range of psychological approaches and encourages trainees to provide and develop clinical services that are responsive to the needs of service users and the demands of a modern NHS.
