MSc Arab World Studies


Course Description

Offered by Centre for the Advanced Study of the Arab World, through University of Edinburgh.

Programme comprises 8 months in Edinburgh studying Arabic language and training in research methods followed by 4 months at approved institution in the Arab world. Students return to Edinburgh for second year.

Students will learn Arabic language; develop knowledge of the historical and contemporary Arab World; achieve thorough grounding in modern critical theoretical approaches to Arab World Studies, Middle Eastern Politics & Area Studies; study literature, history, politics and culture of Arabic-speaking countries; become fully conversant with methods of scholarly research in humanities disciplines.
