MA Film, Television and Creative Practice

Course Description

Study:

The MA in Film, Television and Creative Practice allows you to combine study in creative film and television production with historical and theoretical approaches to film, television and related media. You’ll build the production knowledge needed to work in the creative sector, engaging practical skills such as camera operating, digital editing and screenwriting, as well as gaining an understanding of visual grammar, syntax and structure.

Structure:

Students are taught by industry professionals from the UK and the US, offering the chance to take over half of your studies in practical work, with all students delivering a dissertation (by practice) with supervision from School staff. Included is a specialist module that considers the essential role of creating, developing and pitching successful film and programme ideas for a career in this area.

Teaching:

Dedicated members of academic staff include successful graduates of this MA and the PhD programme who hold teaching posts at universities across the UK and abroad. UEA harbours a rich and dynamic research culture in Film, Television and Media Studies. Academic staff have published widely on aspects of British, American and Japanese cinema, television, film and cultural theory.

Employability:

Students gain hands-on experience with a range of production equipment including digital cameras, Avid editing and scriptwriting tools.
