I worked in various organisations, including the German Air Force, before coming to the University of Dewrby as a mature student. Prior to my MBA I was a project engineer at August Lapple (PTY) Ltd in South Africa. I decided to pursue an MBA because I aspired to a new and bigger challenge. I wanted to apply my work and life experience to academic theories, and find new approaches and solutions.

I really like the Midlands and so looked for a University in this area. The Derbyshire Business School sounded very reasonable and the tuition fee for an MBA was financially affordable for me. Additionally, Derby appeared to be the right size to focus on your studies and not get distracted from other things. The size of Derby University proved to be perfect as the mentoring and support I received on my course was really focused on the individual and adapted to the capabilities of the different students. The support EU an internationall students receive at the University from the International Office is outstanding.

Lots of theories covered by the modules of the progeammme were new to me and I enjoyed all of them. I applied a lot of this newly gathered knowledge on a project with the English Organic Food Plc. We developed a marketing strategy, and looked atnew operational and logistical concepts for this young fast-food company.

My new employer, Durr Systems, is one of the world's leading system supplier of paint shops and final assembly lines in the automotive and aviation industries. It is located in Stuttgart, Germany. I am employed as a Junior Project Manager with the prospect of leading projects on an international basis. I combine my engineering experience with the managerial knowledge which I gathered on my MBA.

My first project was in a team concentrating on the construction of the assembly line for the new Porsche Panamera. I then moved to the aviation department where I've been involved in the planning of the new Airbus production line in China. I'm also looking forward to an up-and-coming project at Roll Royce in Derby.

An MBA is definitely worth the cost. Not just for your professional career but for your personal development. Although some stages of the study were very hard and challenging.

I had my best time in Derby and truly enjoyed it
