You will need to complete an induction prior to commencement of your first module. We have a comprehensive online induction package to welcome you to both the university and your programme of study. Alternatively, classroom-based induction days take place at our Lancaster and Carlisle campuses and are usually scheduled for the first week of each semester.
Our course is perfect for qualified nurses wishing to undertake further study. You will need to complete 120 credits for this course, including a single 20 credit core module of Evidence-based Practice. Remaining modules can be chosen from the Practice Development Framework or any relevant level 6 module from within the health department which has been designated as "stand-alone". Optional modules must be agreed by the personal tutor.
Completing this diploma can lead to progression to a masters degree, possibly in Advanced Practice in Health and Social Care, or Practice Development. You may also consider consolidating your degree-level study by undertaking a University Advanced Diploma Practice Development (60 credits at level 6) or taking a PgC Practice Development award (60 credits at level 7). These are available in a range of practice-based subjects. We also have a wide range of stand-alone modules at all levels.
You must be a qualified nurse and hold active registration with the NMC Nursing Register, or equivalent. You will need access to an appropriate practice setting if a module with an attached QPU or a work-based learning module is studied. Applications should be accompanied by one professional reference.
